RF over Fiber Technology
RF over Fiber refers to a technology whereby light is modulated by a radio frequency signal and transmitted over an optical fiber link. In all satellite ground stations or teleports it is critical to have an effective transmission method for RF signals between antennas and signal management equipment or between different equipment centers. These links traditionally used copper or coaxial cables. In today’s state-of-the art installations these links are best served by fiber optic. RF over Fiber technology delivers several advantages compared to traditional coax. Fiber provides significant lower transmission losses, higher signal quality and prevents crosstalk. Higher capacity fiber connectivity offers a future proof platform in an ever changing technology environment.
RF over Fiber from DEV
DEV offers a versatile portfolio for RF optical transmission over fiber. The modular Optribution® product line provides a broad selection of multiple different fiber transmission modules for switching, splitting, CWDM/DWDM and more, for flexible combinations in four different indoor and two outdoor chassis.
In addition to the optical features, Optribution® can also handle all electrical signal management functions in the same chassis. The consistency of our solutions provides a perfect interoperability with other DEV devices, such as matrices, redundancy or antenna control systems as well as lightning protection equipment. By using standardized frequencies, protocols and connectors, DEV systems can also be integrated into third-party topologies.
